Web of Science (WoS) is a platform for accessing the world-famous citation database (information on citation of individual articles in more than 18 thousand leading scientific journals). The basis of WoS is formed by a multidisciplinary Core Collection, which includes main citation registers Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Conference Proceedings Citation Index and Emerging Sources Citation Index.

In 2018, MU purchased the WoS Citation Connection, which adds additional information resources to the WoS offering: BIOSIS Citation Index (Life Sciences and Biomedical Research), Current Contents Connect, Data Citation Index (Derivative Innovations Index), MEDLINE Zoological Records.

As of September 2023, the WoS also includes the index of the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database.

Educational materials and tutorials for working with Web of Science can be found at WoS Training Portal http://clarivate.libguides.com/home

The quality of journals excerpted in the Web of Science database is measured by the so-called "impact factor" - available in the JCR database - Journal Citation Reports.

Web of Science is a direct competitor to Elsevier's Scopus database in the field of Scientometry.
