SPOWIS (SPOrtWISsenschaftliche literatur) is a sports bibliographic database by university in Leipzig (its update has already been completed, the successor of this resource is the SPONET database). It contains more than 120,000 records from 1960-1995 mostly newspaper and magazine articles, but also dissertations, diploma theses etc. on the subject of sport, sports medicine, practical training and sports events in general. Database contains approx. 50% German, 20% English, 12% Russian resources. Keywords are only in German. About 3% of records contain an abstract.
